Set up a Scan to FTP Profile

Set up a Scan to FTP Profile to scan and upload the scanned data directly to an FTP location.
  • We recommend using the latest version of the following web browsers:
    • Microsoft Edge, Firefox, and Google Chrome for Windows
    • Safari, Firefox, and Google Chrome for Mac
    • Google Chrome for Android
    • Safari and Google Chrome for iOS
  • Ensure that JavaScript and Cookies are always enabled, regardless of which browser you use.
  1. Start your web browser.
  2. Type "https://machine's IP address" in your browser's address bar (where "machine's IP address" is the machine's IP address).
    For example:

    https://192.168.1.2

  3. If required, type the password in the Login field, and then click Login.

    The default password to manage this machine’s settings is located on the bottom of the machine and marked "Pwd". Change the default password by following the on-screen instructions when you first log in.
  4. In the left navigation bar, click Scan>Scan to FTP/SFTP/Network/SharePoint.

    If the left navigation bar is not visible, start navigating from image.
  5. Select the FTP option, and then click Submit.
  6. Click the Scan to FTP/SFTP/Network/SharePoint Profile menu.
  7. Select the profile you want to set up or change.

    Using the following characters: ?, /, \, ", :, <, >, | or * may cause a sending error.

    Option Description
    Profile Name

    Type a name for this server profile (up to 14 alphanumeric characters). The machine displays this name on the LCD.

    Host Address

    Type the Host Address (for example: ftp.example.com; up to 64 characters) or the IP address (for example: 192.23.56.189).

    Username

    Type a user name (up to 32 characters) that has permission to write data to the FTP server.

    Password

    Type the password (up to 33 characters) associated with the user name you entered in the Username field. Type the password again in the Retype password field.

    SSL/TLS

    Set the SSL/TLS option to scan securely using SSL/TLS communication. Change the CA Certificate setting, if needed.

    Store Directory

    Type the path (up to 255 characters) to the folder on the FTP server where you want to send your scanned data. Do not type a slash mark at the beginning of the path (for example: brother/abc).

    File Name

    Select a file name from the preset names provided, or from user-defined names. You can set the user-defined names and file name style in the Scan File Name menu in the navigation menu.

    Quality

    Select a quality setting. When Auto is selected, you can adjust the detection level of color from the Auto Color detect adjust drop-down list.

    File Type

    Select the file type you want to use for the scanned document.

    Document Size

    Select your document size from the list. This is necessary to make sure the scanned file is the correct size.

    Edge Fill for Plastic Card

    When On is selected, the four edges of the scanned plastic card image are filled with white space.

    Edge Fill for Plastic Card is available only for scanning from the Card Slot.
    Margin Settings

    Adjust your document's margins.

    File Size

    Select your file size.

    Skip Blank Page

    Select the On option to remove blank pages of the document from the scanning results.

    Skip blank page sensitivity

    Select the sensitivity level for detecting blank pages in the scanned data. The higher the sensitivity, the easier it is for the machine to detect blank pages.

    Document Separation

    Split a scanned image.

    When multiple documents have been scanned, you can split up and save documents separately by using this function. You can also set the number of pages to split a document by.

    Color/Gray TIFF Compression

    Select the compression TIFF file type for a color/gray document.

    B&W TIFF Compression

    Select the compression TIFF file type for a black and white document.

    2-sided Scan

    Select On to scan both sides of the document.

    Brightness

    Select the brightness level.

    Contrast

    Select the contrast level.

    Continuous Scan

    Scan more pages than the maximum capacity of the ADF and save them as one data file.

    Passive Mode

    Set the Passive Mode option to off or on depending on your FTP server and network firewall configuration. The default setting is off. In most cases this setting does not need to be changed.

    Port Number

    Change the Port Number setting used to access the FTP server. The default for this setting is port 21. In most cases this setting does not need to be changed.

  8. Click Submit.
