Change the Remote Codes

The preset Remote Activation Code is *51. The preset Remote Deactivation Code is #51. If you are always disconnected when accessing your External TAD remotely, try changing the three-digit remote codes using the numbers 0-9, * or #.

MFC-L2802DN/MFC-L2800DW/MFC-L2802DW/MFC-L2827DWXL/MFC-L2827DW/MFC-L2835DW

  1. Press image (Fax).
  2. Press Menu.
  3. Press image or image to display the [Fax] option, and then press OK.
  4. Press image or image to display the [Setup Receive] option, and then press OK.
  5. Press image or image to display the [Remote Codes] option, and then press OK.
  6. Press image or image to display the [On] option, and then press OK.

    • To turn off Remote Codes, select the [Off] option.
  7. Enter the new Remote Activation Code, and then press OK.
  8. Enter the new Remote Deactivation Code, and then press OK.
  9. Press Stop/Exit.

MFC-L2860DWE/MFC-L2860DW/MFC-L2862DW/MFC-L2922DW/MFC-L2960DW/MFC-L2980DW

  1. Press image[Settings]>[All Settings]>[Fax]>[Setup Receive]>[Remote Codes].
  2. Do one of the following:
    • To change the Remote Activation Code, press [Act.Code]. Enter the new code, and then press [OK].
    • To change the Remote Deactivation Code, press [Deact.Code]. Enter the new code, and then press [OK].
    • If you do not want to change the Codes, go to the next step.
    • To turn off (or turn on) the Remote Codes, press [Remote Codes], and then press [Off] (or [On]).
  3. Press image.
